All Hale Kale & Banana Smoothie
Just thought I'd share one of my all time fave smoothies with you! It's a beautiful viberant bright green and full of super healthy kale and other super foods that give this smoothie a big nutritional boost.
Kale was once named "food of the year" and for good reason, It's a super food which basically means that it's super nutrient dense for the low amount of calories it contains. It's full of powerful antioxidants and vitamin C and many other benefits. I've heard people say they don't like kale because it's a bit tough but it best was to avoid that is just blend it up in a smoothie!
This smoothie also contains what I consider my super food smoothie boosters which are ground flax seeds, hemp seeds and Chia seeds. These little guys pack a punch with tons of omega 3's from the flax, protein from the hemp and energy from the Chia seeds. It's the perfect smoothie to fuel your day or fuel your body post workout.
This smoothie is also very versatile. If you don't have kale you can easily sub spinach or if you don't have all the super foods just feel free to leave them out, it'll be delicious either way I promise.
So Lets get started..
- 2 frozen bananas (or 1 frozen banana with 3 or 4 ice cubes
- 1 big handful of kale (desteamed and washed)
- 1 cup of plant based milk (I used unsweetened almond)
- 1 tbsp each of ground flax seeds, Chia seeds, and Hemp seeds
- 2-3 pitted dates
- 1 heaping tablespoon of natural peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons of rolled oats
- 1 scoop of vanilla vegan protein powder (optional)
as far as the instruction for this recipes it's fairly basic. Just combine all ingredients and blend for a while (I like blending mine for at least a minute so it's super smooth).
Tip: try to add the peanut butter almost in the middle of the kale so it doesn't get stuck all over the sides of the blender!
